Champ, Gennady Golovkin Artist Stephen Holland presents painting of Gennady Golovkin to press Video courtesy of Fight Hub Tv This month the press filled The Palm Restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles with reporters and photographers awaiting news of the most anticipated sporting event of the time. That finally, the undefeated Gennady Golovkin, will enter the ring to fight a worthy challenger, the undefeated Kelly Brook. Along with the expected announcements from representatives of both boxers, Golovkin’s manager Tom Loeffler introduced a familiar face to the gathered press and fans – famed sports and celebrity artist Stephen Holland. Holland was asked to join the afternoon events to unveil his newest painting – a portrait of Gennady Golovkin himself. After the painting was received by a room filled with enthusiastic applause, Holland spoke briefly but succinctly, saying “This was a no brainer.” By this Holland was referring to his own career as an artist. One that has been filled with artistic projects with the biggest names in sports history. And, notably boxing champs, from Muhammad Ali on. So to paint Golovkin is indeed a “no brainer.”The portrait was commissioned by GGG's management not just mark the moment but to be used in the promotion of the fighter leading up to and at the scheduled event at London’s O2 Arena. An event that sold all 15,000 tickets in just under eleven minutes.
